Juicing FAQ

 How long do juices last?

Freshly made juices should be consumed as soon as possible. Preferably within 24 hours as they do not contain preservatives. If you cannot drink it all up store it in the refrigerator. However, juices made with masticating juicers/slow juicers can last up to 72 hours in the refrigerator. After that they may not be safe to consume. Also, most of the nutrients and fresh taste of the juice also will be lost the longer you store. So, try to consume within a few hours of juicing with your Breville JE98XL juicer.

Do I have to add water when juicing?

No. There is no need to add water. Breville JE98XL juicers don't need water to juice fruits or vegetables. They extract the juice from whatever produce or greens you add to the feed tube. If you add water it only dilutes the taste of the juice. To get the fresh and actual taste of the fresh produce try to consume it undiluted.

However, some strong-tasting fruits and vegetables can be diluted with water or other juices to make them more palatable. But all this is more to cater to your tastes. The Breville JE98XL juicer does not need water to juice.

Slow Juicers Review - Why Choose A Slow Masticating Juicer?

There are several reasons to buy a slow masticating juicer according to several different slow juicer reviews we checked. We will explore them in detail here:

Better Nutrition: Juice helps to make your diet and nutrition better. Just think about it. When was the last time you ate a plate full of vegetables? Did it include beets, greens, carrots, bell peppers, radish, celery, cucumber and more.  Think about it. Can you really eat that much fresh produce in one or two sittings or even through the day? At some point you get tired of all that chewing. But the same bunch of vegetables when juiced becomes a delicious and refreshing drink. Most folks can consume a glassful at anytime of the day. It is concentrated nutrition in a glass and it is tasty too. Different juicers deliver different levels of nutrition. But it is agreed that slow juicers deliver maximum nutrition for the same amount of produce because of their slow nature of juicing. There is no incorporation of air due to excessive agitation seen in fast juicers. So no oxidation and consequent loss of nutrition. There is not heat produced as the produce is crushed rather than cut into pieces by fast moving blades which cause heating due to friction. So, no nutrition is lost due to heating. The result is a anti-oxidant rich, vitamin-rich and enzyme-rich drink.

Juice Yield: While fast juicers are great at juicing hard produce and generating the juice in a very short time. You can't really the same thing about their yield. Due to the fast and rapid method of processing the produce whether it is hard or soft the juice yield is considerably less when juiced with centrifugal juicers. But, it has been noted that when juiced with masticating juicers the same amount of produce yields much more juice. In the first method the produce is shredded to bits and the small pieces are then flung against the juicer screen where due to the centrifugal action the juice is flung out and the pulp drops into the bin. In a masticating juicer the produce is actually crushed between the rotating auger and the chamber housing it. The squeezed out juice passes through the screen while the dry pulp passes out in to the pulp bin. The different methods of juicing have considerable effect on the juice yield. Hard produce yields reasonable amount of juice in the fast juicers, the soft produce and leafy vegetables don't yield enough juice. In a masticating slow juicer you will find that even the soft produce and leafy greens generate large amounts of juice.

There are a number of other factors that also influence our buying decision. The price is a major factor indeed. But if you think about it you are investing in better health and better nutrition and this will pay off in the long term as you won't be paying so much in medical bills. Second if a juicer gives better juice yield you spend less on the produce in the long term so, that is another factor that should be considered when deciding on type of juicer. Feed tube size is another factor that should be looked at. Small feed tubes increase prep times. Large feed tubes can accommodate whole fruits and this significantly cut down on the time need to chop and cut feed the produce. Also, the amount of time spent in feeding this tiny pieces into the juicer also takes time. Juicers that are easier to clean and use are better because they are more likely to be used. Most difficult bit to clean is the mesh screen with it's tiny pores. This has to be scrubbed clean immediately to remove all the clogged fibers. Last but the not the least is the looks of the juicer. The attractive juicers are more likely to be on the counter and more likely to be used says one slow juicer review we checked out.
